Shaman King (2001–2005)
The show is so different from the manga.
10 April 2004
On 'Shaman King', they call Manta Oyamada 'Morty'. They call Tao Ren 'Lenny'. They call Bokuto no Ryu 'Rio'. They call Sha-Wen 'Shaolin', and Lee Bailong 'Lee Pairong'. They pronounce Tao Jun and Bason wrong. Who made this? Whoever did obviously didn't read the manga.

The only episode I watched beginning to end was the one where Yoh, Sha-Wen (Shaolin), and Amidamaru fought Lee Bailong. I didn't have a big problem with this part, but it wasn't as funny as in the manga: Manta (Morty) runs away from the battle to find a sword for Amidamaru. He finds a wooden sword, a bokuto, but gets stopped by a gang, and Ryu (Rio) saves him.

This is what should've happened: Manta still runs around, and still finds a bokuto, but the owner is Ryu, who's followed by his own gang. After consulting his conscience and his shoulder-demon, he begs for the sword, and gets hit by Spaceshot and Apache, Ryu's near-deaf stooges. He gets a bloody nose, and asks again. They hit him again. Looking even more beat-up, Manta pleads with them one final time. Ryu smashes him into a wall, and Manta lays seemingly dead. Ryu and his gang walk away, but the nose-bloodied, scratched, and bruised Manta leaps up with his heavy dictionary and whacks Ryu. Convinced Manta is a zombie, the stooges and Ryu run off, leaving Manta with the bokuto.

That was long. Anyway, these guys gotta make the anime more like the manga.
