Get this DVD and don't miss the film test in the extras!

I've watched this movie probably ten times over the years, and it always gives me goose bumps. You definitely want the German version, though the subtitles miss the puns ("ein vogel I'm kopf" in the scene near the end) and even the basic translation, sometimes. The worst was when they took the English film's song text as the subtitle for the German version. "Falling in love again" is not a particularly good translation of "From head to toe made of nothing but love." When it has to be sung, you could kind of forgive the movie makers, since they needed to keep the score the same.

But, anyway, the two DVD version has a bunch of extras including the screen test that IMDb mentions on the main page. What a scream! The piano player is a really incompetent accompanist, and Dietrich continually breaks from singing in English to tell me what an a-hole he is! I laughed so hard I cried. If you don't have two disc Kino DVD, though, you're really missing out.
