Good movie
24 January 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The movie has a very good framework for character evolution, with a focus on human interaction in a very hostile environment, being a world of ice.

We see two symbols pictured in this movie, the wait for the sun, as a symbol of hope, and the safe warm nest in an environment deadly for any human being without a masochistic tendency.

Although the movie loses itself at a certain moment, by moving into typical cheap Hollywood sensation, like the sexual scenes and bear scene, these scenes do not ruin the movie.

I had a problem with the sudden twitch in the mind of Ellen, who, after a strong disgust, changes 180° in favor of Lars.

The first sexual scenes, although they are very explicit, are performed with good taste, but after a while they seem to evolve to comedy and make the movie lose path. Only at the end, the movie finds track again, in what everybody should expect; a serious tale that will not have a happy end.

It is a good movie, and too bad that Francesca (as Ellen) never returned to the big picture.
