I'm glad to see them making a movie of this story, as one of our family friends is also friends with a descendant of this family, who confirmed to us all that it was a real story. Living in the south, most notably now Tennessee, this movie is actually (and hopefully) going to be done right.
I've yet to see the movie, but if you want a very summarized account of the incidents at the Bell Farm, then pick up a copy of 13 Ghost and Jeffery, a book series chronicling different haunts all across the south, including Tennessee with its rich history of paranormal activity.
A must read when I was in school, if you've never heard of it then you don't know what you're missing. It is very documented and is the only account in history, as the title says, that a ghost killed someone.
