Late one night when I couldn't sleep, I went downstairs to see what was on all of my umpteen movie channels that never seem to have anything decent playing. I stumbled across this film, just having seen Amelie and A Very Long Engagement, and I figured another Audrey Tautou film might be worth watching. Never having heard of this film before, I was incredibly surprised at the turn of perspective halfway through the film. Usually I see this kind of thing coming, but it completely threw me off guard. I loved it. Of the millions of obsessive love films out there, this one stands out for sheer originality of the surprise. I didn't feel like I was being dragged through a load of stupid mistakes by hackneyed archetypal characters as in most thrillers, waiting for an inevitable happy ending, because I didn't even know I was watching a suspense for the first half. Obviously most people won't have the same experience because of their prior knowledge, but having reviewed it recently, I still think it's better than most.
