Pretty Good, slacks off some

Warning: Spoilers
This is a sort of "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" / we aren't all that different culture clash sort of movie. A young t.v. star (status not specified) brings home her boyfriend ... the problem is that her family are Spanish Jews (grandfather fought in Israel), while her beloved new b/f is Palestinian. The family is not aware of this when she comes, leading to some farce sort of results.

The farce is added by the fact the family is a bit kooky, down to her little niece who pretends to be pregnant. This aspect of the movie starts early and is fun. The problem is that mid-way, the movie loses steam, and actually gets a bit too serious (respecting one of those mistakes necessary for farces to work, but it gets too serious) for comfort. Putting that aside, the maniac energy simple disappears, so that the last third or so of the film is a bit weak.

It ends on a pleasing note, but the loss of energy sort of hurts the film. Still worth a look. OTOH, what did happen to the duck?
