At least a Decent Lesbian love story with lots of romance!
4 July 2006
Other comments have covered this film fairly well so I'll not repeat the obvious I hope. The lesbian community has a dirth of good quality movies that are engaging and real. OK - this movie is a typical in many regards (its portrayal of men etc) but as a main-stream title it portrays love for what it should be - the person and not the gender. It gets under your skin and some sound values come through about gender and seeing beyond the surface level of people. It also entirely fails at others - she should NEVER have been cheating on her husband and lying through her teeth. The moral values here are really very low and seriously detract from an otherwise good movie! This alone lost it two points for me reducing it to just a good watch movie.

It was very engaging and shows the importance of respect and dignity that needs to be given to people. It touches deeply the issues of true love and shows that it is a subliminal and undefinable thing.

The film does fall into the Chick Flick market a little but straight women will get a lot out of this movie as well I suspect. The lack of violent action (not even a street fist fight for entertainment) may leave the guys a little bored though (depending on their taste for lesbian romance...).

So it will be on my "top 5" lesbian interest movie list I think! If you haven't seen it Do So!!! You'll Love It!!! With the proviso that the moral compass is seriously messed with here... If only she had been honest and not married him or at least been open about her mixed feelings...
