i do agree that fushigi yugi is over-rated, but still, i love this anime. it's not the best, especially if you're listening to the English dubbing of Miaka which gets sooooo annoying, but its a classic. some character development may not be original, but you have to admit, the story is pretty original. yeah, there's lots of stories where someone gets sucked into a book about an ancient civilization, but this one came out very nicely to me.
well, maybe i should just say this: read the manga. its wonderful. and although her art is much better now, yuu watase's art in her early series is beautiful.
i will end with this: people who are looking for an action packed anime: this is not exactly what you are looking for, but there are episodes with fights.
people who are looking for a romance filled anime: this is definitely what you are looking for, but even then, you can be sickened by the way miaka & tamahome constantly call out for each other.
there are some good laughs in here, so i recommend it.
