Mel Gibson is one of the great directors at creating a movie that pays attention to every single detail of the period and people his movie is trying to portray. In the great tradition of Braveheart and Passion of the Christ, Gibson outdoes himself with Apocalypto and creates a completely believable world during the Mayan times. Watching this movie, I felt like watching a documentary on the people who lived during those times. Whether it is true to the facts doesn't matter anymore.
The actor playing Jaguar was brilliant in acting without words (half of the movie doesn't involve dialog), and overall the movie was like an adventure for the movie-goers to experience. There really isn't much plot involved with the movie, but the chase scenes are wonderfully intense and well filmed. Even with it's bloody nature (which I think is necessary for the story), I still recommend this movie for people to watch.
