Film Review: Gridiron Gang Cast: The Rock and Xzibit Juvenile delinquents get a second shot at life Gridiron Gang is a factually based film, detailing the heroic antics of a group of inmates at the Kilpatrick detention facility.

Gang violence in south central Los Angeles has crippled the African-American and Hispanic communities. With so many rival thugs competing for territory in gangland, very few young men emerge unscathed.

When a group of inmates find themselves low on confidence and brooding with contempt, Coach Sean Porter (The Rock) takes them under his wing. He initiates a daring program in the form of a football team.

When the criminals learn to forsake their differences and unite as a team – victory is the only certain outcome.

This is a story of heroics, of determination and of hope. The Rock delivers a polished performance alongside another below-par supporting role from rapper Xzibit.

The action is intense, the rivalry fiercely competitive and the outcome realistic.

This is another product of the sporting genre, but it makes for some enthralling viewing.
