A nice detective movie...
11 February 2007
With "36 Quai des Orfèvres" french cinema probes one more time that has no reason to envy the Hollywood productions. It's still and great school of directors who want to make innermost movies, but also has the necessary means to create competitive product that may attract big audiences.

This is a dark and violent detective movie that deals with the mafia that rule the Parisian underworld and the corruption in the politic spheres. We got to of the biggest legends of Frenach cinema, Gerard Depardieu and Daniel Auteil, playing the main roles: Depardieu plays a corrupt cop that would do anything to be promoted, and Auteil is that man of principles that takes no bribes. Both of the are just great. The weaker point of the movie is the script, since it does not explain very clearly the relationship between the two main characters. Besides the plot becomes a little bit confusing at the end.

Anyway it's a good film in its genre and it's way above the average works that Hollywood exports.
