At one time I thought "Oh, dear, not another You-are-dead-but-you-don't-know-yet movie". And it came pretty close. Of course, it was another ridiculous explanation for it all, but the pretext was rather elaborate and the script thought through. Some of the symbolism of the movie was deep as well.
Alas, the delivery was totally boring. Except the scenes with the writer trying to get his pilot series accepted, most of the film had no emotional content. Or rather, less than expected. Like an "Uncanny valley" of emotion.
Bottom line: I found the message to be interesting, the way in which describes the wrongness of the world, without actually making the movie about it, a bit like The Matrix, but you have to be in the mood and even then you will probably consider it a tad too lengthy.
