Great mindless fun
2 July 2008
I enjoy good romantic comedies - unfortunately , I've seen many bad ones. Thankfully, this Pfeiffer driven movie goes way up the good list. Yes, the plot is wafer thin, characters are mainly 2-dimensional, but if you're after a smile-on-your face-for-90-minutes time, then pick this up.There are some issues tackled within the movie (nature, education system, puberty, divorce, ageism) however all is done fleetingly, superficially, I might add, yet pleasantly. Pfeiffer radiates her beauty even at 50, whilst Lovitz, even though used sparingly, shines with great comedic timing. I was also surprised by the presence of Paul Rudd. I had my reservations on his capabilities, however his acting here is downright funny, yet done stylishly. Again,if you want to smile, rent this.
