As much as I like the Hammer films, especially the Dracula and Frankenstein films, this film really does stand out from the rest.
Bette Davis, as always, is fantastic in her role. Throughout the film, you keep on thinking to yourself, that she has definitely got a dark side that is going to come out and when it does, she uses her unique eyes to frighten you even more.
The suspense carries on throughout the film and keeps you guessing at every corner and you become afraid of what might happen to other characters that enter, like Aunt Pen. You think that Joey, the boy, is going to kill them all in the night.
I bought the DVD of this film only because it was a Hammer film, it had a script by Jimmy Sangster and it starred Bette Davis, but I got a lot more than I bargained for.
