Good but unpleasant

Warning: Spoilers
Recap: A dramatized story about the events in Seattle at the WTO meeting in 1999. We see the people that are involved at all levels. The mayor, the visitors to the meeting, the protesters, the police and the locals are all represented by at least one character, telling a part of their story. How everyone's intentions might have been for the best but how they ended up a catastrophe.

Comments: In such a massive event as the riots in Seattle, it is impossible to cover all the aspects, give all the stories. I think that writer and director Townsend have succeeded in giving as much as possible though. Most groups have at least one representative that tells their story, their perspective on the event.

And it is no fun story that is told. But it has a very real a plausible feel about it. It is a clear dramatization, but it is made so it feels like it is something that could have happened. The main story is that surrounding the riot, with the protesters at one side and actually (by the extension of the police) the mayor/governor at the other. But the story that touched me most is that of those who got caught in the riots with no fault of their own, especially that between Ella and Dale.

That story was very real, very painful and really moved me. That are the characteristics of a good story, but it is not very nice to see. It is a unpleasant story of loss and grief. A story that shouldn't have happened if everyone had played by the rules. It is the story that really tells that people will lose their lives when others don't act with peace and cooperation.

It is a well played movie, with surprisingly many stars. I guess many of them felt it was a project well worth to be involved in. For us movie watchers it only enhances the experience as you van play "Name that actor"...
