What we have here is a mess directed by Erick Zonica He & 4 others wrote this overly long screenplay. Tilda Swinton is amazing as the alcoholic,sex crazy person who kidnaps the son of another alcoholic she befriends at an AA meeting. Tilda will probably be nominated for many awards for her bravura performance.
Kate DelCastillo plays the mother.She is very good.To show you how confusing this story is, she just vanishes as soon as he boy is kidnapped. I wonder if this is part of the con game that the rest of movie is. If this seems confusing, consider how the audience feels watching this supposed drama. I say supposed as I was chuckling at many of the absurdities.
Aiden Gould is the 10 year old lad & he is quite good.
Saul Rubinek is as usual very good in his support.
The acting by all is very good, so is the fine cinematography & scenery. The film is also way over long 143 minutes is about 53 minutes too long. If this was about 90 minutes long it would have been much better.
