Was really expecting more Tyler Perry -- was in the mood for some real laughs -- got a couple- Oh well -- It was a welcome relief not to be assaulted every 5 minutes with nudity / gangsta rap / vulgar language / blood bath violence - as a matter of fact it was really kinda preachy - They tackled every modern social issue I could think of -- Evil -smokers/strippers/ night clubs / alcoholism /self centered attitude / disrespect to others / gratuitous sex / sleeping with married people / womanizing relationships / low self esteem / low life males / lying / cheating / dishonesty / attempted rape / indifferent society / child molestation / pedophile step fathers / screwed up child welfare system and so on - The happy happy joy joy ending was a bit much but the tear jerk parts will have most of the women loving this movie -- Being a musician, the best part for me was the great sound tracks and the fact that the band was actually playing the songs that were in the movie - Gladys did a great job and has not lost any of her Motown soul. Guys -- this is one to set up as a "girls" night out while you go shoot some pool --
