This film is a remake of Paul Thomas' original film which starred Randy Spears and Hyapatia Lee as Jim and Barbara. In this version Jim (Justin Sterling) plays a virginal singleton who falls for local masseuse Barbara (Jenna Jameson). From their initial meeting at the parlour, their relationship grows more intense and bizarre until Barbara has to decide where their relationship is going.
(Spoilers ahead). Unlike the original film which was rather sparse in the hardcore sex department, fans of the hard stuff should have no complaints with this one. The problem for me is in the plot. Somehow, Justin Sterling's Jim does not convince as the sort of man who would find it hard to attract women. As confirmation, his co-worker Amy (Wendy Divine) makes her intentions very explicit but Jim just stands there and does nothing. Another problem is Barbara. Would a woman got to the house of a man she hardly knows and engage in full bondage? On the other hand, people who watch hardcore sex films probably don't watch it for the plot anyway. In any sex film there has to be a lesbian element, and this one is no exception. Barbara's partner is a woman so maybe this is to appeal to the gay faction.
For me, the original is still the better of the two and Hyapatia Lee is simply stunning. Although Paul Thomas has tried to replicate the sophistication of the original, this one is first and foremost hardcore porn so it certainly succeeds on that score.
As a footnote, this review is from the French region 2 DVD which luckily also has English audio. There is also a UK version but strict censorship rules mean that it is cut or panned and scanned of all hardcore clips. However, the final sex scene with Jim and Barbara contains a couple of clips omitted from the DVD reviewed above.
