Joe D'Amato dishes up the XXX porn, and keeps it right on a'comin' in MESSALINA, one of his many period dress hardcore exercises. A quality female cast puts it over.
Kelly Trump stars in the title role, delivering more double penetrations than you can shake a stick (or whatever) at. But balancing her presence is a ringer of a Nubian handmaiden played by the striking Olivia Del Rio, thereby sneaking the film into the mixed combo category. D'Amato also had Del Rio starring as Cleopatra, a video in which she was far better than her material.
Also kicked upstairs is balding character (porn division) actor Silvio Evangelista who sticks out (literally) amongst the male cast members as Narciso, right hand man to emperor Claudio (Claudius). He gets a lot of hump time on-screen and is up to the task.
As Claudius, taking over the empire with the death of Caligula, Backey Jakic is a non-starter, rather unimpressive whether balling Trump or Del Rio. He stars in a big-deal THE MAGNIFICENT 7 GIRLS, which is at the top of my want list, thanks of course to its femme cast (Sarah Young, Trump, Maria Bellucci, Anita Blond, etc.), not his presence.

In fact, Claudius is lame enough that D'Amato has to bring in his closer, Hakan Serbes, to service Trump in the final reel. Happy ending D'Amato style has Trump maneuvering so her hubby Claudius arrives to see her making love to Narciso, whose punishment when she claims "rape" is castration. At least Big Joe didn't show it.
This one's pretty much wall-to-wall sex. I'm more or less addicted to this junk, but it might prove disappointing to more demanding "storyline porn" fans.
