Einstein (I) (2008 TV Movie)
Weak acting and sloppy direction
1 November 2011
There's not much to be said about this production except that it has all the hall marks of a flop. Look out for the Ikea door handles, the plastic parquet, the Italian louvered window shutters in Berlin, the identical street buildings in Zurich and Berlin and the children who look 12 years old for a decade and then suddenly age 10 years quite literally overnight. The acting is almost laughable. Contrived emotions, line anticipation and wooden expressions are a set piece for RADA training on how not to do it. And the whole production seems geared around the sex life of the great man rather than his work. This is unrewarding schmaltz. Avoid it.
