Review of Heaven on Earth

I had bought this from German war films dot com. I had almost made a mistake about the female lead in this film. I had thought Ilona Massey was playing Hans Mosers Daughter. Wrong this was her first feature and she only played the actress in the musical play. I knew it was strange that the other actress , I was getting confused with ILona ,did not have her beauty mark.This film was made in Austria before the annex. So there is no propaganda in this one, except to entertain. Ilona acting career would remain uneven on the screen Even when she would come to America The daughter of Inn keeper Adlgasser, Hansi, was played by Lizzi Holzschuh, who also could sing.I almost got the story wrong watching it , until I had to read the review again, since no sub titles were put on. Herman Thimig ,of Viktor, Viktoria, 1933 and the blue of the sky , 1932,plays a composer Paul Keller. who is married to Hansi, but Inn Keeper Adlgasser disapproves of his career and want his daughter to have economic security. Frank Schafheitlin makes a small uncredited appearance as one of the customers who complains about the eggs.Hans has given money to Paul to buy a farm and settle down. But instead has put it on a musical play he is composing, the title of the film of course.Theo Ligens shows up as the director of the play. Ilona appearance is small.Well It seems Hans is going to visit his daughter and his son in law at the farm. both Paul and Hansi uses Peter s Farm, played by Heinz Ruhmann. His Next door neighbor, a daughter of another farmer,Erna ,played by Julia Jansen, is in love with him but Heinz is not sure yet if he's in love with her. The problem is the Aunt Adele, played by Adele Sanrock. She's going to visit her nephew Pete. It's when Adlgasser is trying to start a conversation with her ,on the train as he too is going to the farm, that he doesn't realize that is Pete's aunt,in which he's not aware that's Petes Farm too. The laughable complication rises when Aunt Adele thinks that Hansi is the wife of Pete. Putting her in a situation to pretend , which makes Paul jealous.While Gas doesn't under stand the situation and Why Pete's aunt is visiting . Then the aunt starts suspecting infidelity with now pretentious friend ,that Paul is being force to play. Then the aunt tells Gas what she suspects causing him to realize the situation about , angrily confronting Paul. Then The father of Erna want to visit with Pete for approval, played by Alfred Neugebaeur. So he gets Paul to help him out. When Theo shows up for the music of the play that's when things straighten out . This is a digital print. I don't think German distributer Kinowealth video has this title, good movie! 12/7/11 12/8/11, Wrong, Hans Mosre character, Adlgasser, was Pauls popsy not Hansi's.
