Journey 2 has got heart but in the end it doesn't add up!!!
30 January 2012
After watching Journey to the center of the earth in 2008 honestly speaking i never thought a sequel would be made to it, when it was announced that Brad Peyton was set to direct the film i was a little hopeful because i felt that cats and dogs 2 the revenge of kitty galore was a reasonably good movie, however it was Dwayne Johnson's involvement with this movie that took me to the theater to watch the film.

The plot is simple with a minor twist towards the end. The story follows Sean (John Hutcherson) who is caught while attempting to access a signal broadcast that was too faint to pick up outside of the satellite research center. Little later he discovers that the broadcast contains co-ordinates that would lead him to a 'mysterious island' which were hidden in three novels- Treasure Island, Gulliver's Travels and Jules Verne's Mysterious Island

Hank (Dwayne Johnson) Sean's stepfather & Sean now set out to discover this island because Sean strongly believes that the secret message was sent out by his long lost grandfather Alexander Anderson (Michael Caine. What follows is a series of events that ultimately lead these two and their friends on a not so incredible adventure.

Although the premise and cast of this film is good it fails at a few important levels.

Firstly the thrills aren't great the 3D doesn't help either. secondly the dialogue isn't very interesting tending to drag during most of the film. Thirdly the story line is very predictable.

However the film is not without its good points either The special effects department particularly the work done on the 'Island' as such will not let you down the animation is great. The story offers a good message for families particularly the bond between father and son.

Its a reasonably good movie to watch with the family but at the same time it doesn't offer anything new either.

Cheers!!!!!
