@Dane-70: I do remember that episode about the man in the middle being dead. Much is fuzzy to me also, but I remember that the two men on either side were (obviously) criminals, and they realize that the protagonist knows that the man in the middle is dead. They wind up either following him or finding out where he lives. They come looking for him to kill him. But somehow he is prepared and prevails. Sorry - not much more help but it takes you one step closer.
