Medium.. nothing fresh.. Just entertaining.

Being an urban dance movie, guns make their appearance, along with every stereotype about hip-hop or the young. Don't believe the hype. Just watch them dance.

The problem is that it tries way too hard to be something heartfelt and original, but quite honestly, I have heard every bit of dialog and every single plot point a million times. These actors were beginners when this film was first shot, and in the end product, it shows.

Sure the dancing is great, but really, there is not even much of that.

I could not wait to see how the film ended, just to see if I could give it sympathy. By the end of the film, it pulls together a bit and there are some heartfelt moments sprinkled throughout, but that does not overshadow this poor film.

The things that we may enjoy is the body shape of the two main actors.. they are really both so handsome, thanks God.

A lot of movies are derivative. What makes Step Up particularly dispiriting is that it has almost nothing fresh to add.
