Terrible Low Budget Zombie Flick
27 November 2012
I grabbed this movie off the shelf because of the kick ass cover art. It gave the movie a quality look but it no more into a minute of the first scene of the "couch potatoes" and it was evident this movie was filmed on a home video camera. It's strange how they actually had decent sound design on the one hand but on the other hand I feel like they just used the built in mic on their mini-DV cam to capture all the dialog. I'm an American, and while I thoroughly enjoy foreign film, the New Zealand accents were so thick it was, at times, difficult to understand the characters. As far as a zombie flick goes, this movie brought nothing new to the table and seemed like some dudes just copying zombie movies they've seen before. The zombies weren't scary and easy defeated with...a golf club? Things I did like: the heroine was cute and their car was pretty bad ass. It's too bad they didn't film the entire movie the same way they filmed the ending music video...it actually had some quality. Don't let the statement on the cover about being better than Shaun of the Dead fool you. This movie is not even close to the same class in quality, plot or humor as Shaun of the Dead.
