For the most part 'Breaking Bad' is about the activities of men; Walt and Jesse are making drugs and Hank is working to catch whoever is making the drugs... this episode sees Skyler and Marie take the lead in the story. Skyler is determined that not only will she get the carwash but she will get it for less than she initially asked because its owner, Bogdan Wolynetz, offended her. She has to be careful what methods she uses though as she doesn't want to draw too much attention to a business that she intends to use as a money laundering front. Marie meanwhile has started stealing again; she is visiting houses that are up for sale; concocting elaborate stories to tell the owners and estate agents then stealing small items. Inevitably she eventually gets caught and Hank calls a friend on the local police force to deal with the problem; in return he asks Hank to look at a file concerning the murder of a man he believes was involved in the manufacture of methamphetamine: Gale Boetticher. We also see how Jesse is not dealing with his problems doing whatever he can to avoid thinking about the fact that he took a life.

This episode may not have been packed with action or even with particularly tense moments but it did serve to show how the characters are dealing with their various situations. Skyler is being gradually pulled into Walt's criminal world as she attempts to buy a business to use for money laundering and Marie is having difficulty dealing with the fact that she can never seem to do the right thing for Hank; Anna Gunn and Betsy Brandt put in fine performances in these roles it was nice to see them take centre stage for a change. After feeling down since the shooting it looks as if Hank may finally get back in the saddle and start investigating again now he has started to read the file on Gale's murder; this will be good; it may be realistic that he would be depressed after being so badly injured but it is more exciting when he is on the trail of the makers of the blue meth.
