The deal was Linda Lavin wanted the scene-stealing Polly Holliday off Alice, so Holliday got her own show. Unfortunately, it was short-lived. I can't recall why, as Holliday and Geoffrey Lewis were completely able to work together and I do recall Holliday managed to click with many of the actors on the show.

Perhaps it was Flo's flirting with all the guys that looked so unappealing. I can't recall what Joyce Bullifant did tho. She was someone's wife, but it seemed she just kind of wandered in at time, as she did on Mary Tyler Moore as Gavin MacLeod's wife.

It seemed to me, if necessary (cuz again, the tangling with Lewis and some of the other guys was the funniest bit going on the show) that HOlliday, Lucy Lee Flippin, Sudie Bond and Bullifant could have brought a woman's perspective.

I remember the luau episode and Lewis in the sarong. He stated he was wearing shorts underneath the sarong.

Later, for some reason, the characters had to climb up a ladder, as someone (probably Flippin) had locked herself in her room.

So they are leaving and someone on the ground gets a view up Lewis' sarong.

"Shut up down there. Earl ain't wearing a smile." "He ain't wearin' no shorts either!" Other episodes like Forrest Tucker as the long lost father, just didn't click well.

I do remember the low-key Stephen Keep Mills was the piano player in her club. A fight broke out once and Flo screamed at him, "do something!" He started playing adventurous piano music.

Wouldn't mind seeing the show again tho.

Wasn't that bad.
