Nice Combination Of Various Genres
3 March 2013
This movie is a very strange but endearing combination of various genres, so here we can see a comedy, a period drama, even a satire, then a love story, then a very sulky and gloomy family tragedy. Maybe, this certain lack f focus had produced a weird effect of somewhat bemusing impression - the film is obviously good, and the nature depiction is very powerful, but then, there are some weaker links and some certain jumps in the plot that rob us of a bigger enjoyment. The casting is excellent, and all the main stars do an enormous job, shining in their roles throughout. This is a very strong point of the movie, along with excellent soundtrack and elegiac camera work. But then, some very strange moments appear, and they blur the whole picture and tend to drag the film into a maze of puzzled astonishment. I must say, I am rather a cautious watcher of such kind of dramas, and this one has left me a bit puzzled, but still, excellent work by Robin Wright, Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder and many others improved this somehow faulty work immensely.
