A really fine movie
12 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Raju(Raj Kapoor) is a simpleton, too honest and very truthful. The head of a gang of robbers is injured. Raju helps him. The remaining dacoits also reach the scene by this time and misunderstanding Raju, take him with them.In the village of the robbers, love develops between Kammo(Padmini) and Raju. The dacoits then interfere in a wedding and kill several people. Raju is infuriated at seeing this. He goes to the police station and reveals to them the dacoits' plan to rob another village. When the police decides to take action(by laying a trap for the dacoits), Raju dislikes their plan. He hates violent methods and destruction. Then Raju starts on a path to reform the dacoits by means of love. Performance wise, Raj Kapoor plays an excellent role. Padmini too is good. Songs are like charms by Mukesh. But the ending just does not cut it. It's bit of an optimistic ending, not easily possible in real world. But anyways, the movie is again very good, one of last Raj Kapoor's hit black white movies.
