Ah, What a Great Play!

Warning: Spoilers
"Diary of a Mad Black Woman: The Movie" was shot, "Madea's Family Reunion: The Movie" was in production, and "Meet the Browns: The Play" was touring the country. While all of this is going on, Tyler Perry toured "Madea Goes to Jail: The Play" around the country. Much like "Meet the Browns," this play thrives on comedy. There's a dramatic story and a bit of romance, but you will be laughing more than anything else throughout this piece.

Now, I do have to admit something: like I said, there is a bit of romance in this play, and it's kind of sloppy. It's not too distracting or troublesome, it doesn't even harm the play. The problem with it is that it comes from nowhere. Sonny loves his wife, Vanessa, until he learns she's been sleeping with his friend and boss, Nate. After he files for a divorce, he gets a promotion at his job. Then he reveals to his friend and the new head prosecutor, Wanda...Yeah, where does this come from? Sure, they've been friends for a long time and there's a tiny bit of flirting at the beginning, but there's not really anything here that screams need for a romance. But, again, this doesn't hurt the play much.

I must also say that I love Madea's speech in the middle of the play. When she's talking to Sonny and the audience about life lessons such as faith, relationships, love, and other things. It really is something to take to the heart. If you don't enjoy anything else in the play, you should enjoy that.

I like everything else in this play. I love the new characters, the story, the music, and, again, the comedy is great! That is probably the main thing you'll remember when this play is over, along with Madea's words of wisdom. Watch the play, folks. You shan't be disappointed. BOOYIKA!
