I did not expect much from this french crime flick. Depardieu is not here at his best, not at his worst either. So is Joey Starr. Adapted from a Jean Christophe Grangé novel, which I don't quite remember exactly the story, the movie is not really boring but so predictable...Only made for the widest audience possible. Of course, it avoids all the JC GRangé's atmosphere that we find in his books. But I admit that these ones are very hard to be faithful to. They are very dark, violent, cruel, depressing. All films made from Grangé's work were never faithful. None of them, even LES RIVIERES POURPRES, the first one. No one was close to these novels. Books very complex too.
But this film is full of clichés that make it after all an adequate time waster. No more.
