Sheer Soviet magic.

Warning: Spoilers
Hopefully people will not think of this as being blasphemous, but at moments 'Yozhik v Tumane' reminded me of Björk's video for 'Human Behaviour' by Michel Gondry... I just checked this out, and it turns out this film wás actually the inspiration for it, so there you go.

Elsewhere in a review (here on IMDb) I read that in Western Europe 'we' prefer a film like this to be more to the point and full of color, but obviously this does not go everyone - I personally adore this kind of thing. In a way it's very simple, but it really isn't; it has something new going on almost every ten or twenty seconds, like changing angles, change of atmosphere (aided by a sublime soundtrack) and beautifully crafted figures and backgrounds, all playing their part in this wonderful little journey of a hedgehog through an adventurous night in the fog.

I am yet to watch it again - and again and again, wíth subtitles! - but I must say it hardly needs words to be enjoyed by me.
