This movie is way ahead of its times.

Chaplin's initial foray into sound films and what an inauguration! Call it a start with a bang. The final speech by the Jewish barber is the crowning glory of this movie. The greatest words ever spoken and ever heard by the human species. The collective aspirations of humanity through the ages crystallized into a wonderful speech, is sure to render one speechless. A speech that is a judgment and an indictment of all that has gone wrong in the world.

The movie is a spoof on Hitler and his Nazi party. The insanity of his times and the helplessness of the people in the face of such evil, makes this movie even more ominous. A speech that seeks to chart out the future course of human progress, only if humanity and her uncaring leaders care to listen.
