Absolutely outstanding

Warning: Spoilers
I remember this mini series when it was aired, back in 1970. I was only a child. Actually I remember most the title and the fact that my parents and grandparents were stuck to the watching of all episodes. It is the most popular, famous french TV series of all time.

So, I recently bought the DVD set to view the whole TV show - again.

Only one word to describe this: TERRIFIC.

I don't remember being so glued to a TV show, except maybe RICH MAN, POOR MAN, aired a decade later.

EVERYTHING here is accurate: each word, each move, each shot is accurate at the most. Nothing superfluous here, nothing unnecessary stuff, as we may find in an ordinary movie made for the big screen. I have not seen the movie, released in 2007. And I don't think I will.

I have rarely seen - at the same time - such poignant and thrilling story. Some scenes made almost me weep. A sad tale where you may desire a happy ending. And I usually hate happy ending in films.

I can't even imagine that anyone alive may not like such a masterpiece.
