John Cusack stars as Jack a hit-man assigned to look after a mysterious bag by Robert De Niro who plays Dragna the crime lord. Which is an extremely complex character I might add. Cusack retrieves the bag with some difficulty and then must bring it to a seedy motel in a nondescript location. Already a recipe for a thrilling watch. Once there, Jack encounters a cast of quirky characters led by Rebecca De Costa as a sultry femme fatale who definitely knows more than she lets on. De Costa is so stunning and did a great job in her breakout role. Crispin Glover also does a good turn as the oddball desk clerk. The Bag Man is a slow burn at times but I found it engaging and fans of intelligent crime stories are sure to like this movie.
