Review of Cloudburst

Cloudburst (2011)
4/10
OK - poor screenplay, inconsistent
16 March 2014
While the overall context was clever and cute, I felt myself constantly jarred by inconsistent scenes and completely out of touch portrayals of locations and characters. The "butch" of the duo was overdone and also got in the way of the movie as a whole.

The introduction of the young man was clever BUT the development of the character was poor at best. He delivered his lines well, and he was authentic, but the script went from bad to worse. There were many holes in both the plot and the locations.

Border crossings were ridiculous and anyone who is from N New England would know, crossing from Maine to Canada, heading East to Nova Scotia takes you into FRENCH speaking New Brunswick Canada!!! All signs will be in French, all stores, shops are in French. Instead this was shot on the cheap and all signs, streets, locations were English Speaking.

The young man's family was never introduced or developed in a way that the audience would know anything about how this guy somehow grew up in a home where he had no room , nor could live in, nor had a "father" which was plausible. Furthermore lived on a farm where there was no barn, no crops and no animals.

Every single town looked the same....

The absolutely ridiculous was the view of the SUNSET looking over the Atlantic Ocean- eh? If your on the EAST Coast, its a sunrise.... the west coast its a sunset. The movie was filled with these flaws that took away from the overall theme of two women that had lived together for 31 years.

Save your money and time, skip this one...
