Rockers (1978)
9/10
Greatest Reggae Movie Of All Time

Warning: Spoilers
My first ever review on IMDb and the honor goes to this wonderful gem. As a fan of the music since childhood, we have been blessed to able to experience the music through these cast of characters.

The plot follows a charismatic lead, played by Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, journey during the sufferers era in Jamaica. Trying to make an earnest living, Leroy is a tireless records salesman by day and a drummer for a band at a tourist resort some nights. What makes this movie great is the journey he takes as along. First and foremost, the devotion to religion, being a respectable individual in society and the interactions with his friends. The directors subtle use of the story to incorporate the music genre keeps the viewer entertained. A whose who of reggae is featured with an emphasis of enhancing the plot to the very end.

The films biggest fault to date is the directors unawareness to catalogue a wonderful piece of music upon our lead at a key scene. It's other few faults can be forgiven since everything else is engaging.

As a whole, Rockers is engaging, entertaining and dare I say classic for anyone invested in knowing a part of the greatest music of all, ROCKERS.
