Eddie Murphy: Delirious (1983 TV Special)
7/10
Back when Eddie Murphy owned the mic

"Delirious" takes its time getting going, and that opening homosexuals bit (doesn't go down well with the modern ear) had me steeling for disappointment. But pretty soon, the laughs come like gangbusters. Murphy does a kickass Elvis impression, and his Stevie Wonder and -especially- James Brown material is solid gold. But he really shines when he goes in on his family, the bathtub, and the backyard cookout. Genuinely funny stuff. Once his natural confidence and swagger take hold (and that's the real star here), the payoff is outstanding.

Also, it's pretty flippin' cool to have the Bus Boys open for you.
