The Truth About Humshakals...
22 June 2014
Everybody find this review helpful. This is the TRUTH about the movie Humshakals.

It's hilarious bullsh*t. I said it. There.

I'm a guy who LOVES great Hollywood flicks. Some of my favorites: the Star Wars trilogy; Fight Club; The Dark Knight Rises; Indiana Jones; most of Martin Scorsese's movies, especially Taxi Driver; about ANY Hitchcock film; and a lot of Kubrick's films as well.

It's amazing how I can find this flick enjoyable, and other people can't.

Of COURSE it's gonna be loud, OF COURSE it's gonna be over-the-top, OF COURSE it's gonna be silly. It's a Sajid Khan film! Didn't anyone learn anything from Himmatwala?

HOWEVER, whereas Himmatwala failed to invoke a single chuckle from me, I was laughing all over during this film.

It's bullsh*t, yes. But it's funny, and that's the truth. If you can enjoy flicks by Bobby and Peter Farelly, like Dumb and Dumber, there's no reason you won't laugh during this film!

And surely enough, the entire theater I was in was laughing during the movie.

If you didn't like this film, either you're pretentious and you just wanna show that you're a fan of good movies, or you're not a fan of brainless comedies. And to be honest, how many people actually hate to laugh once in a while?

Humshakals is a guilty, guilty pleasure, but it's actually funny. The direction by Khan is babyish as always, but it doesn't really hurt a comedy like this. The acting is pretty funny as well, although over-the- top. And, yes, I will agree with one thing. Saif Ali Khan should do more serious roles. He's an incredible actor with a lot of talent. I suggest he actually use it, than appearing in movies like Humshakals. Still, he adds to the film.

The female leads are underused and mostly eye candy. Bipasha is OK, Tamannah is bearable, but Esha Gupta is a surprise. Her performance is pretty understated, and she's mostly subtle instead of loud like Tamannah. Same goes for Ram Kapoor, who shows subtlety at times as well, although his character/s are mostly loud.

This is the truth, you movie freaks. I'm saying this because I'm a movie freak too. Just because Sajid Khan made one huge blunder, doesn't mean his other films are not funny. This one is pretty hilarious. It got a couple of good laughs out of me.

This is a movie that knows it's ridiculous. It knows it's silly. And it still manages to entertain.

I am appalled at how this movie is a 1.9/10, and that Dhoom 3 is a 5.9/10. At least this movie's original, and not a Prestige knockoff.
