The Stolen Jools is fascinating for the star cameos...and not much else!

I had once watched this short back in the late '80s when I bought a Goodtimes VHS tape that had this short on it. The fact that this was meant to be shown before someone in the theatre passed a jar around to raise money for a tuberculosis sanatorium and it was sponsored by Chesterfield Cigarettes must have been a lost irony at the time! Anyway, I was fascinated by the cameos that appeared in this especially those from Hal Roach Studios like Laurel & Hardy and the Our Gang kids who were at the time: Allen "Farina" Hoskins, Matthew "Stymie" Beard, Norman "Chubby" Cheney, Mary Ann Jackson, Shirley Jean Rickert, Dorothy "Echo" DeBorba, Bobby "Wheezer" Hutchins, and Pete the Pup. Of the gang, all except Mary got close-ups though she did have the last line warning of the cops who happened to be L & H! Their scenes were funny as were the later appearance of Wheeler & Woolsey but all the scenes surrounding them were the most lame of all! So on that note, The Stolen Jools is worthy as a curiosity and nothing more.
