Review of Crazy Moon

Crazy Moon (1987)
Much too quirky
25 December 2014
If there's one thing that bugs me most about Canadian films, apart from the fact that most of them are bad, it is that when it comes to making comedies, they almost always make them "quirky". I am so sick of Canadian quirky comedies! Though the problems with "Crazy Moon" go beyond quirkiness. The movie has more of a passing resemblance to the cult movie "Harold & Maude" - both movies have rich young men protagonists who are weird and get around in "funny" motor vehicles and have a romance with someone quite different. But in this rip-off, we have an unsympathetic protagonist who is not fleshed out very well, as well as comedy that simply falls flat. If you must see a Canadian comedy that concerns itself with a romantic relationship where one of the characters is disabled, watch "Love At First Sight". It's not a good movie overall, but it's much better than "Crazy Moon".
