The world is our oyster.

Warning: Spoilers
After watching auteur film maker Ernst Lubitsch's film I Wouldn't Like to Be a Man (also reviewed),I decided that to mark the day that the 2015 UK general election was held, that I would pull the oyster from the Masters of Cinema excellent Lubitsch DVD box set.

View on the film:

Opening with a stylish profile shot for each of the characters,co- writer/(along with Hanns Kräly) director Ernst Lubitsch & cinematographer Theodor Sparkuhl gives the title a superb stylised appearance, with the Quaker household being and Ossi's wedding being covered in dazzling symmetric patterns which give the movie a delightfully quirky indie vibe. Along with the prise symmetric patterns,Lubitsch also displays a real eye for sharp slap- stick, with Ossi's anger over being unmarried bouncing off the wall.

Keeping the film running on a sweet note, the writers delicately balance a light satirical touch with smooth melodrama,as Ossi's (played by a very good Ossi Oswalda) quick wedding is matched by her American family being shown to have no limit over how much they consume,as they each open the shell for the oyster.
