This review is based on having watched the 1st episode.

I'm not sure why all the vitriol - it's not really a show that should engender deep feelings either why it seems. It's a bit campy, has a few flaws, but at the end of the day, it is entertaining without requiring too much thought to follow the plot. And I am a bit of a fan of London period pieces so that's my bias.

The backstory for the grandson of Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde as it unfolds is interesting and while some of the more supernatural elements are a bit distracting, I found it enjoyable to watch on a Sunday night.

That being said, I'm in Canada and we don't have really strict guidelines about violence on TV before a certain time. If you don't want the wee ones to watch it - there is some violence and some "monster" types that could scare little ones - be warned. But for adults, I certainly didn't find it scary but fun and watchable. I'll keep watching and hopefully it will continue to develop and eliminate some of the minor flaws as time goes on.
