"Neues vom Wixxer" is a German movie from 8 years ago that runs for slightly over 90 minutes and came out 3 years after the first Wixxer film. I thought the first one was decent, but this one here is genuinely funny. I may be a bit biased as I am quite a fan of Oliver Kalkofe and Bastian Pastewka, but I would not say that I am too biased as I am not a great Paul or Welke fan and I also do not find him particularly funny in here. But that is the only exception. I also want to emphasize the writers here: Kalkofe, Pastewka, Welke and Boss, who truly did a great job. Sucks to see this film got hardly no awards recognition.
There were many great moments here, obviously not in storytelling, but in humour and these make this film truly worth the watch. It's been quite a while since this film, but there have been many talks about a third movie and there is no way I will miss that one on case it ever gets made. It is not even that this second film needed a while to get going, it was very entertaining right away. A bit baffled by some of the reviews here and the fairly mediocre rating. Maybe it is tough to watch this one as a non-German as most of the jokes are plays on words and may be difficult to translate accordingly without losing the humor. I am not sure. Anyway, I would call this one of the finest German comedies I have ever seen. highly recommended and nice idea again to include some of the old actors from the Edgar Wallace films. By the way, I am not a fan of these at all, but you don't have to be in order to appreciate this one.
