My first visit to Centralia was in 1977, as a TV news cameraman shooting 16mm film for WNEP-TV. That film is now in the ABC News archives. My fellow photographers and I shot lots of film and video in Centralia over the following 30 years. Chris Perkel approached WNEP-TV News Director Dennis Fisher and and me circa 2005 looking for archival news footage of Centralia from WNEP. We were happy to accommodate the project. I spent many hours researching old news video in WNEP-TV's archives, making copies, and sending them to Chris and Georgie. I've viewed the documentary several times and, in my judgment,it provides an accurate account of what happened to this small, unfortunate town in the late 20th century.
