Let's Go To Prison (2006): Dir: Bob Odenkirk / Cast: Dax Shepard, Will Arnett, Chi McBride, David Darlow, David Koechner: Amusing film about the choices we make. In this case Dax Shepard has been in and out of prison since the age of eight. Once released again he learns that the judge who continuously sentenced him passed away and his ill mannered son is replacing him. Shepard wants revenge so he sets it up so that his target goes to prison, and to foresee that his target receives full treatment, he lands himself there as well. Funny setup but routine storytelling with a questionable conclusion. Director Bob Odenkirk does well playing off prison clichés but it is his cast that steal the show. Shepard is perfect as the experienced cell mate who has seen it all behind bars and is hardly fazed. Will Arnett plays a great foil as the judge's son. Shepard constantly gives him bad advice, which lands him in deeper trouble. Chi McBride steals scenes as a homosexual inmate who takes a liking to Arnett. David Darlow is given the brief but pivotal role of a no nonsense judge who sees prison as Shepard's future home. Finally we have David Koechner taking his talents from Anchorman to the prison yard. Well made comedy that delivers a rather wayward conclusion but not without a great deal of hilarity. Strong message regarding the unsatisfactory choice of revenge. Score: 7 / 10
