Not among the better silent movies

Warning: Spoilers
"Visages d'enfants" or "Faces of Children" is a French/Swiss co-production from over 90 years ago and as this was made in 1925, you should not be surprised that this is in black-and-white and silent. The writer and director is early French filmmaker Jacques Feyder, so make sure you get subtitles unless you are fluent in the language. Anyway, the title already tells that children play a major role in here and as this is 100% drama, 0% comedy, it tries of course very hard to construct an emotional storyline around the children in here. Sadly, in my opinion, it was not working for the most part. The acting also could have been better, especially from the child actors. But the main reason why this one wasn't really working was the script I think. It was not engaging enough and sometimes it really lacked relevance. I am not saying this film was a failure, but it wasn't convincing at all and the material just wasn't there for something that runs for almost 2 hours. I do not recommend the watch. I have seen many many better films from the silent film era.
