Warning: Spoilers
"Wandering Papas" is a black-and-white silent film that has its 90th anniversary this year. Yes it is a Laurel/Hardy movie, but things are not as usual. Stan Laurel made this one during the 3 years when he directed a couple films and Oliver Hardy only plays a supporting character this time. Instead, the lead actor is Clyde Cook, a name that won't be known to too many today anymore, even if he has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The reason may be that he physically resembled Charlie Chaplin (even has the same initials) just too much. I cannot really judge his talent by one film only and I am not sure if I have seen him in anything else. However, I kinda liked him in here and I think he elevated the material with his good charisma and screen presence. Still, I did not like the movie. It always sucks to see so many people credited as writers and then the outcome is so disappointing story wise. It is a chaotic watch and never really funny. I do not recommend it and feel kinda sorry for Cook.
