Something unique and so different than the usual

Warning: Spoilers
I stumbled across this movie and I'm glad I did. First of all this is so incredibly different than the usual clichéd lesbian tripe spewing from filmmakers. It was dark with hints of hope for Lucille to finally find her happiness. I thought the chemistry and passion between Lucille and Joan was wonderful and believable though I had to speculate to myself that Joan was reading Lucille's poetry and that is what spurred her feelings for the injured girl, leading to the first kiss. Ingrid and Arthur were wonderfully creepy and so well acted.

I did have a few issues: I would have liked a little more exposition into the development of Joan's feelings for Lucille. Also, the music during the love scene was a peculiar choice, though as the scene ended I understood the choice. There was one scene with Joan and a cigarette, I'm still not sure what she was doing and quite honestly, I'm still not sure what happened at the end.

I will also admit there were bits during the intimate scenes I'm not sure what the director was going for but I'd wish she'd stuck with just plain ol' passionate kissing but still I didn't find it "porn-ish". I believe there was an intent behind each shot.

I also love that they made the effort to do this in English. (Personally I found the accents kind of hot. :-) ) Still I think if this had been spoken in German with English Subtitles may have captured more of the spirit of the film.

All in all, I found this to be a beautifully acted and directed movie. It is well worth paying $2.99 to rent on Amazon. Especially if you're tired of the same old, dying lesbian or lesbian realizes she's really straight crap we usually get.
