Warning: Spoilers
****SPOILERS***Buried little gem of a movie that actor George Peppard, as escaped from prison fugitive T.M Pryor, went into debt making as its star director as well as producer that paid for itself without much of an advertising budget but just plain word of mouth. Peppard who at the time was a recovering alcoholic did a better job acting here then in any of the big budgets movies that he stared in just because he had his heart in the project and was willing to, by financing it, put his money where his mouth or acting ability is. Busting out of a Louisiana lock-up where one of the guards ended up being murdered-by what turned out to be another prisoner- that he was accused of Pryor escapes through the snake infected swamps with a group of bloodhounds nipping at his heels to the main highway to hitch or better yet carjack a ride.

Pryor is trying to make it to far off L.A where his 9 year old son Tommy is in critical condition from a car smash up that ended up killing his mom by a drunk driver. On the way there Pryor meets the goofy Georgie Haskin played, in her film debut, by George Pappard's real life wife Savannah Smith Boucher with him kidnapping her as well as carjacking her car. With Georgie later suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome she soon falls in love with Pryor to the point that she refuses to leave him even were he allowed her to escape. There' also insurance agent J.J Bester, William Larsen, and his secretary Wanda Delac played by Savannah's real life sister Sherry Boucher whom Pryor later kidnaps and switches cars to throw the state police off his tail.

***SPOILERS***Leaving the shifty eyed Bester and Wanda stripped of their clothes in a motel room, as well as checking out on Georgie, after they were of no use to him Pryor goes on his own by first hopping on a cattle car and later booking a flight to L.A from a friendly Jose Stover, Victor Campos, who's relatives Pryor just rescued from a burning house fire to get to see his son Tommy before he possibly expires. Heart warming final with Pryor despite a five state police and state trooper dragnet as well as being shot and seriously wounded by Inspector Markley, Neville Brand, who been hot on his tail since day one makes it dressed as Canta Clause to Tommy's hospital room to find him recovered from his injuries with a Christmas present that he picked up for him while on the run from the police. That's something or someone-A man or boy's best friend-that no amount of money could buy!
